Ann-Meredith Knott Chadwick was born February 10, 1958 in Washington, DC and now resides in La Plata, Maryland with her husband William Kent Chadwick
She attended Charles County Community College (now CSM) where she earned an AA Degree. She also attended the University of Maryland University College where she earned BS and MGA degrees as well as a paralegal certification. Since college, Ann has taken numerous continuing education courses in public affairs and marketing.
Ann has had a varied and interesting career. She spent four years as the Assistant Public Affairs Officer for the Naval Facilities Engineering Command and then moved on to WMJS Radio where she worked as a radio talk show host, DJ, and ad sales executive. Next, Ann joined SMECO and supported the cooperative for eighteen years as their Public Affairs Manager. She has also been a registered lobbyist in the state of Maryland and a former Chair of The Maryland Public Service Commission’s Consumer Education Advisory Board for Customer Choice. Ann is currently a partner in C&K Properties of Maryland and an Officer with Maryland Quality Homes.
Throughout her career, Ann has seen community service as an important individual responsibility, and has been an active participant in a wide array of community organizations. She has been a member of Charles County Democratic clubs, Charles County Zonta, Charles and St. Mary's counties' Business and Professional Women's organizations, the Calvert County American Association of University Women, and was an associate member in the Calvert and St. Mary's counties' Chambers of Commerce. She is a current member of the Charles County Chamber of Commerce and is a generous contributor to various local organizations and charities.
In September 2005, Ann applied for and was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Charles County Democratic Central Committee and then successfully ran for election as a member to the Committee in September 2006.
Ann sought membership on the Committee because she is interested in the political process and in working behind the scenes to further the goals of the local Democratic Party.
Her Committee responsibilities include managing Committee correspondence for the Chair, producing all print material associated with the annual Truman--Kennedy Dinner, and publishing the CCDCC newsletter. She is also working to formulate a strategic plan for the Committee and a scholarship program.
Ann is motivated by a concern about the public image of the Democratic Party, especially with regard to specific issues, such as health care, education, transportation, and the environment. She has seen first-hand how the process can work or not work behind the scenes. She hopes to further the interests of the party in a non-partisan way to accomplish goals for the greater good of all individuals.
Her vision for Charles County is to see the County grow in the technology arena and provide more professional employment options for its residents and better transportation options for those commuting out of the area. She would also like to see growth in the area managed a little better so we do not lose our small town feel and retain our beautiful, scenic historic and rural areas.
