Commissioners Approve FY11 County Budget
Education and Public Safety a Priority
NO TAX INCREASE – On Thursday May 13th we approved a $ 305 million FY 2011 budget which begins July 1, 2010. Facing a $4.6 million shortfall we were able to balance the budget and still maintain the same property tax rate $1.026 per $100 of assessed value. As promised, the Commissioners did not increase the tax rate and maintained stable funding for public safety and education, which will keep our schools competitive. I’m proud of this Board’s record of good fiscal management evidenced by our AAA Bond rating and no property tax increases. Despite the worst economy in 60 years, we have been able to maintain steady funding for schools and public safety along with investments in roads and economic development which will position the county well for the future.
